It’s giveaway day! Today I am hosting two giveaways!
Although I love my Ruby Lou Doll, I don’t have any little girls to share her with (and she was so fun to make, I want to try sewing another one) so I thought this might be a good way to find her a new home! If you are a sewer this is a doll pattern worth buying. Check it out! She even has a reversible skirt.
Giveaway Two: Fat Quarter Bundle
A rainbow assortment of fat quarters from my grandmother’s fabrics. These are all cotton, quilting-weight fabrics.
How to enter:
1. To enter the giveaway for Ruby Lou, leave me a comment telling me about where she would go if you won her (I have to be sure she is going to a good home!) 🙂
2. To enter the fabric giveaway leave me a comment about what you would do with the fabric if you won. (Maybe it will give me some ideas for the rest of my grandmother’s fabric!)
For both giveaways:
If you already subscribe to my blog, let me know and you will get a second entry (no need to leave a separate comment, I am doing this the old-fashioned way).
If you are a regular commenter on my blog, you automatically get an extra entry (no need to let me know, I know who you are!) 🙂
The giveaway will close at midnight (AST) on the 20th and I will announce the winner on Friday morning. Good luck! Don’t forget to check out all the other blogs participating in Giveaway Day!
Giveaway #1 please – she’s absolutely beautiful!!!!! I look after a 6-year old girl who has named each of her dolls since she was able to talk, some of them were her mother’s when she was a child. Ruby Lou would be very loved by her!!!! xo
Squeal ~ Ruby Lou would come home to my precocious 9 year old little girl who is a handmade doll fanatic (she REALLY appreciates them, plays with them constantly, and gives them plenty of LOVE!)
what an adorable little doll! my three year old girl would LOVE her! 🙂
thanks for the chance to win,
lora
[…] Laundry on the Line is giving away an adorable handmade doll named Ruby Lou or fabric. […]
The Ruby Lou doll would go to my little one, Lucy. She’s been a little sad that my first foray into doll-making has not been for her, but for her new niece Catelyn. It would be a wonderful surprise for her to give her Ruby when we give Catelyn her Molly (if I finish it in time!)
Michelle
If I won the little doll she would go to my one year old daughter who would adore her. Thanks for the chance to win.
I think I would use the fabric to make an extra quilt for quiltsforkids.org !
i would love to win the fabric so i can start working on a quilt for my mom. thanks for the chance to win. i’m loving your blog! 🙂
My little girl would love that doll. I’d put her somewhere safe for a few years until she is done the chewing/pulling/grabbing/destroying stage. Then I can just see her being loved on!
carlamo (at) ymail (dot) com
I always love fabric. But the doll is darling! My little one would love her…she is very much into playing babies right now!
amwawillever@aol.com
Oh that doll is darling. I have two darling little girls, a 2 and 3 year old, who would love the a gem like that to play with. Thanks for sharing.
Amanda
If I win your beautiful doll she will join lots of new friends in my collection of handmade personalities!!! jinglesells at gmail dot com
Ruby Lou would go to my little girl Rosie. She is 18 months and in need of a doll to put in the little stroller that she pushes all over our neighborhood. I am sure Ruby would also get to go on the slide and swing with Rosie.
Those fabrics would look nice in a charity quilt. Thanks for the chance!
If I won Ruby Lou she would go to my granddaughter who is six years old and lives in Austria. If I won the fabric, I would make charity quilts for children.
The doll would go in the corner hanging doll catcher thing (?) I made last year in my daughters room. What would I do with the fabric? :eave it in my stash until inspiration hits me, whcih is not happening right now. messy_mcspud (@) hotmail (.) com
For the FQ’s, I would probably match them up to make a quilt.
blessed.mama4 at yahoo dot com
For the doll, I would give her to my daughter.
blessed.mama4 at yahoo dot com
Ooh…Ruby Lou would go to my 7 year old daughter who loves to play by herself with dolls or animals or anyone who wants to live in her world. 🙂 Also, I think you should make more even if you don’t have a little girl to give her to. She’s just too cute. You could have a little collection on ETSY. Definitely cute enough.
Such a pretty doll! I would love to give her to my new baby girl! (and since she’s not really old enough to play with her yet, I’d get to snuggle her first!)
I would give her to my friend that has two little girls. 🙂 She is darling!
I would give the little girl doll to my daughter. She is just 7 months but already very interested in baby dolls! 🙂 So cute.
sunshinekmp at yahoo dot com
Love the little doll, but I would rather have the fabric–I’d like to use the blue and purple prints in a quilt I’m planning. Thanks for the chance to win!
I have a four year old who would give Ruby Lou a very happy home. She would be put to bed every night in her very own bed (that she’d have to share with other dolls, but she’d enjoy that). Also, she’d be put to bed during the day and we’d all have to be very quiet not to wake her. This is not such a fun game for little brother.
Ruby Lou would come to California where she would go on many adventures with my daughter. At night she would be tucked into a little doll bed under a quilt made by Grandma.
I would probably make a coin quilt or scrappy type quilt for sure:) Hope I win!
My daughter loves dolls and would love Ruby Lou too!
I would certainly incorporate those fabrics into one of my quilts. As far as I’m concerned, the more fabric included, the better!
I do already follow your blog. You’ve already done me the service of letting me know I can freeze chard, and gotten me thinking about the Christmas ornaments I’m going to make for friends next year from old wool garments. So thanks!
I’d love the fabrics, especially that swirly one. Most likely, these would become food bags (like ziplocks, but with velcro and PUL).
If I won Ms. Ruby Lou, she would live a life of chaos in a cozy home in a small town in Indiana. She would dodge collisions with Thomas the train and probably get tossed to and fro. But that is only until her 5 month old owner gets big enough to hold her own with her 2 older brothers (2 and 4). 🙂
I would love to win the doll. My baby to be is a girl (at least, that’s what they tell us!), and I’m sure she’d LOVE her first dolly!
Following you!
I would love granny’s fabric stash! I would probably make some cloth napkins, or patchwork pot holders with it.
shannon.mangerchine(at)gmail(dot)com
I love the Ruby Lou doll. My daughter’s 3rd birthday is coming up next month and she would make a great birthday present. Also my daughter’s middle name is Ruby so that would be a fun connection for them. She is very nice to all her toys and doesn’t mistreat them. She also needs a doll because she only has animals right now. Thanks for the chance to win!
My daughter’s first birthday is coming up, and I know she would give Ruby Lou lots of hugs!
I don’t have any little girls for the doll so I really like the fabric stash. I am always looking for unique combinations to make purses and wristlets out of. I also dabble a little in quilting and really like the log cabin block. So much can be done with it.
Thanks for a great giveaway and I will be following your blog.

oh, I want the doll! I’d have to share her with my 5 year old, so she’d get to go to lots of tea parties and on stroller rides. She’s so adorable!
Hey Andi!
Those fabrics look amazing! I already have a wonderful bag from you, so, I won’t be sad if the fabric found a different home, but I do love the bright and beautiful colours of the fat quarter bundle. 🙂
I think your give away idea is a lot of fun 🙂
I have never seen a sewn doll as cute as Ruby Lou! I am definitely looking up that pattern. I think it would be fun to make 🙂 Thanks for sharing. 🙂 (Although I too have no girls to share it with… so the fabric is more enticing for me for sure!)
Oh, yes, what I would do with the fabric… I am in the process of working on my first queen sized quilt (I have only made one other small quilt in the past)… I think some of the colours would work really well in that quilt. And, some to help make a Ruby Lou doll of my own 😉
My sister-in-law is pregnant right now, and if its a girl I think I will make the doll for part of the shower gift. 🙂 I usually knit a hat for babies but after my knitted sweater incident (a hoodie that did not cooperate when it needed to be pieced together) I am setting my knitting needles aside for awhile…. this doll would be the cutest thing ever 🙂
Thanks again for the giveaway chance 🙂
Andrea

The ruby lou doll is so cute. She would go to my 4 year old daughter, Isa. She would love her. I’m guessing my soon to be born daughter would love her too! Plus, boys are allowed to like dolls, right?! Thank you for making such a cute doll and for offering it to the world to win!

If I won the Ruby Lou doll.. I would let her go to my daughter.. She LOVES babies and rest assured, she is very careful with her babies.
If I won the fabric, I would definatly turn them into clothes for said little girl, lol. She LOVES skirts and pretties, lol.
ruby lou will go live with my 16 month old daughter in her room. they both have the same color hair.
I’m sure If I won Ruby Lou, she’d go in the doll cradle my grandfather made that my daughter now plays with! I love the reversible skirt! Thanks for entering my giveaway!
Ruby Lou would have an awesome home, in her own little rocking chair with her own little vintage doll quilt in my sewing room along with my 2 other Dolls, Samantha and Addie From American Girl. I worked there for years and bought dolls for all of our girls and they all left home and I still have the dolls. So they would be happy to have another Girlfriend to chat with. GREAT GIVEAWAY and thanks for sharing.
If I won Ruby Lou, she would be loved and adored by my own Gracie Lou! My sweet girl would take her everywhere, including storytime with Ms. Nancy where she would hear great books, march and play bells to “Muttit Man” (Muffin Man), and craft to her little heart’s content!
Ruby Lou would find a loving home in Anouk’s arms. Anouk has the same pigtails 🙂 And at 20 months, “doll” and “pigtails” are already a part of her daily vocabulary. She would be absolutely in love with this doll.
I have a lovely great-niece who would love to play with ruby lou but since she is only 18 months old – I will play to win the fabric.
Cd organizers and little journals are probably in the works for these fabrics.
Great prizes! Ruby Lou would be a birthday gift for my youngest girl about to turn 3. Thank you!
Ruby Lou would go to my 16 month old daughter, whose only baby doll is a cheesy plastic one! I think we would both like ruby lou’s style, she is adorable!
Well she would live among a group of fabulous cats(and bears, monkeys and giraffes!) in my year and half old girl’s room! xoxoxox
Hi: if I was lucky enough to win the fabric, I would make a table runner–need a new one! Thank you for having such a great give away! Sharonj.
I’d love Ruby Lou… she would go to a good friend’s daughter, who is as cute as a button!

i would like to use the fabrics for a mini quilt or to make a little bear like the one in sew darn cute. thanks for hosting the giveaway!
There’s a really great charity called Dolly Donations. I think I would send that lovely off to a child in need. 🙂 I just have to make sure my daughter doesn’t see her first!
skooksplayground[at]gmail[dot]com
I think I’d work the fabric into some quilts. 🙂
skooksplayground[at]gmail[dot]com
Fabric! Ooooo! Fabric! (can you tell I like fabric?!) 🙂
What I would do with the fabric: I think I’d work up some fabric boxes with sunflower print. I’ve been checking books out of the library that are all about fabric bowls and fabric boxes!
I am crazy for that fabric, I’ll make frilly aprons with matching kerchiefs.
Ruby would have a very safe a comfy home with my daughter when we switch her over to her big girl bed. Perhaps she would be a great incentive to stay in bed once she is put in for the night/maybe a bit longer in the morning :D.
I’d love to win the doll for my daughter! She’s very into dolls right now. She’s almost 2 and will be joined by a baby brother or sister in January so she can use more practice with little ones! Her dolls now have a stroller and crib and they are very well loved! We’d take very good care of that little girl!! Fingers crossed for my daughter!!
I’d love the FQ’s to use in the string quilt I am working on 🙂
Ruby Lou is a beautiful girl – I would love to give her to my 5 year old niece who loves “babies”. As soon as she comes in my house its Hi Auntie – where are the babies? She would adore her!
Thanks for the chance to win!
I am a regular reader ( I think I am a subscriber?) as you know 🙂 And if I won the Ruby doll, I would give her to my youngest daughter (who just turned 10 months old). I know she would love it – especially that great hair!!
If I won the fabric… well, I would probably pop it into my own stash until the perfect project for it came to me. 🙂
My 19-month-old daughter would love this doll to pieces!
Check out my fabric giveaway at http://pitterputterstitch.blogspot.com.
Ruby is so cute but I would have to go with entry #2 – I am a die hard quilter and love making interesting scrap quilts.
thanks for a chance at your giveaway.
jleibfried@aol.com
Oh, that fabric would make such a fun quilt! It is so bright and Chipper!
My daughter would also adore the doll and it would follow her around everywhere!
Thanks for giving!
melissacorry@hotmail.com
Ruby Lou would be my companion until the grands come to visit. I have three granddaughters now; the newest being 2 weeks old. If one of them loves her and doesn’t want to go without her, I’d let her have Ruby Lou, but I would miss her company….
freeindeed at myfairpoint dot net
The fq are such bright bold colors. My 18 yr old would probably ask for them to make tissue holders. She is on a crazy of those lately. Know anyone who would like to buy any???? hehe. I am also part of a monthly block lotto, and that uses up fabric in different colorways each month too….
freeindeed at myfairpoint dot net
I have a small daughter that would love to give some “love” to the Ruby Lou doll (and I love that name!).
The fabric would probably be integral in concocting some sort of summer shirt for abovementioned daughter, and/or her soon to arrive new baby sister.
Ruby Lou is so cute! I babysit a special little girl who would just love her. Thanks for the giveaway!
Ruby Lou would go straight to my two year old. She loves dolls so much right now, it would make her very happy to have another baby.
My three year old and my one year old would fight over this doll!! Ok, so actually they are pretty good friends and would probably share her nicely. :o) They would love her, though!
thanks for the chance!!!
First I would make a “little brother ” doll for her and then I would give them to my grandchildren, Gabriel and Datura.
I would help Datura (just turned 7) make simple blankets and clothes for them.
Adorable doll!
Wow. You have a lot of followers. Look at all those comments! I’m not entering the contest, as I have so many wonderful homemade items from you already. I’ll let someone else enjoy your handiwork! I have a post request though. Do you have any yummy rhubarb recipe’s? You are so good at making healthy concoctions, and I wonder what you like to create with rhubarb!
A rhubarb post sounds like fun! There are a few good ones I discovered last year. I’ll try and post them this week! Wish I could say I had this many followers every day! 🙂
Giveaway 2 – I would use the fabric to make a few gifts for my mom for her upcoming birthday!
Ruby Lou would reside in my daughter’s room, lovingly cared for by her.
Ruby lou (having been named after my Grandmother!) would enjoy picnics at the beach, long bike rides (in the front basket) and lots of lake camping trips! She would live in the heart of the Sonoma County wine country and enjoy beautiful nights by the fire and then head off to bed with an 8 year old who likes to play dress up.
I would use the fabric for a couple of quilts I am working on.
Ruby Lou would be snatched out of my hands, carefully tucked into her stroller and wheeled around the house by my two year old daughter, Heidi, who LOVES dolls! Thanks for the chance to win one for her!
I would use this fabric for my fabric jewelry making.
i would love to enter #2!
i would make a doll quilt for my daughter’s birthday doll (she is getting a waldorf doll for her 2nd bday in october). those fabrics are so lovely!!! thanks for the chance to win.
If I were to win sweet Ruby Lou, she would be aggressively loved by my two daughters. Oh, they’re very careful not to hurt their dollies, but they do squeeze them, carry them upside down, and shove toy bottles in their mouths. I guess I can’t expect a 1 1/2 & 3 year old to understand gentle nurturing yet! If I were to get the fabric (which is fabulous! And I saw your pics from your stash — awesome!) I would incorporate them in a vintage and retro quilt I’m working on.
And, I’ve just subscribed to your blog.
Thanks for the chance to enter!

Ruby Lou would go to our adopted teenage daughter who had no childhood. She really likes dolls and has been trying to build a collection since coming to live with us.
The fabrics would be put into quilts. Either appliques or pieced. I went through my mother’s stash last summer, turned them into quilts and sent them back to her. She loved it.
Love the fabric and would definitely make a new bag with it.
Great giveaway – thanks!

With the fabrics I would probably use them for some kitchen crafts. Thank you for your giveaway.
My girls would fight over the dolly so I’m not sure if you consider that a good home…but the fabric would be all mine! Granny fabric says apron to me.
what a darling doll! I would love to get her for my 1 1/2 year old daughter.
Ruby Lou is a charming girl and would be a well loved doll in my kindergarten class. She looks like she might need the occasional cuddle by some loving 5 year olds.
As for your grandmother fabrics- you have endless choices to create beautiful quilts. I think it would depend on how much fabric you are working with and whether you would like to make a small or big quilt. You could find lots of scrap patterns to mix and match all the different fabrics you find her bag.
There are some wonderful books out there that make use scraps to make bed quilts. One that I bought recently is called Scrap basket Surprises by Kim Brackett.
I love the sunflower fabric- I collect sunflowers as it is my favorite flower.
Have a great time visiting the new blogs to you.
You can find my blog at
http://quiltmomsjourney.blogspot.com/
Regards,
Anna

i love the doll! my sister and best friend are both trying to have children now, and she would go to the first one to have a girl! mostly, though, i really like your blog — it reminds me of mine (or what I want mine to be someday) — and not just because we have the same theme! 😉

Adorable doll. My little girl (19 months old) would love her and push her all around in her baby stroller!

tcsean(at)aol(dot)com
Oh I want to cuddle Ruby Lou this minute! She would go to my 18-month old son. He’s got plenty-o trucks and cars but he’s always drawn to dolls when he sees them and it’s high time he had one of his own. When he sees a doll he’ll say
“Baby!” and give it a big kiss. Too cute!
I would make cute appliqued onesies with the fabric. Thanks!
I have a 2 1/2 year old who loves her baby dolls! Thanks for the chance. She is so sweet!
Ruby Lou will go to live with my beautiful granddaughter who will love her completely.
The material is beautiful and would be great for table runners, bags or doll clothes for my granddaughter’s dolls.
Happy stitching and thank you!
I would love to give Ruby Lou a loving home. My little girl just turned one and with two older brothers she doesn’t have many “girl things” to play with. Ruby will enjoy lots of walks to town, days in the park, and hikes in the woods. She would be very well loved!
I’m a follower too!
The small-print floral fabrics would fit in with lots of fabrics I have for a quilt. The rest would make great bags/aprons.
If I won Ruby Lou, I would give her to my niece who will turn 2 this year. She would be well loved and she would also keep her name of Ruby Lou. 🙂 thanks for the chance to win!
I would be happy with either the doll or the fabric. The doll would go to one of my 4 girls and the fabric would probably be made into dresses. 🙂
That little Ruby would be welcome to live here with my two year old and I. We try to avoid cold hard plastic toys and have another fabric dolly to be her friend 🙂
cynsaw2@hotmail.com

Thanks for the opportunity to win these wonderful gifts. If I won I would have more use for the fabric, I am just new to quilting and would love to add to my stash. I have a few fun ideas and would love the sunflowers for a picture frame quilt I have in mind for a girlfriend.
I also just signed up for your emails. Thanks, Vic
I would love to win Ruby Lou. My daughter would just love her so much. Thanks for the chance to win.
Ruby Lou would come to Iowa and play, eat, and sleep with my daughter Megan! Thanks for a chance to win!
I love Ruby Lou. She would be going to Nashville, TN. She would be mine. I have a husband, a son, and a male dog so I have decided I need more girly stuff for myself. She will go either on my desk or on my reading chair in the bedroom. I hope because I wont probably play with her too much that wont exclude me. Thank you for the chance to win her. stephspitzer at gmail dot com
Either one would be so great! My niece would love the doll and I would love the fabric! I’m a follower.
If Ruby Lou were adoped by my family she would go into the hands of my daughter Annabelle you can see pictures of her at http://breannasknitbits.blogspot.com Annabelle is loving, caring, considerate, and takes very good care of her babies but I think she is ready for a big girl doll just like Ruby Lou. If Ruby were to come live at our house she would be loved! (If I was willing so share her, I might have to keep her for myself Ha Ha!!)
I have been itching to make a beautiful quilt that would be used on picnics and other outdoor activity trips like baseball games and I want something colorful, soft, and warm!
Aww Ruby Lou would be going to a good home if you choose me. I have a baby girl (9 months old) and a little boy (3years old). Because I had my boy first, my little girl sometimes looks like a boy and plays with boy toys due to all the hand me downs she receives. It would be great to let her have something of her own that is girlie and cute! 🙂
OH that doll is ADORABLE!!! She would so go to my daughters! You can check just how adorable and deserving they are in my blog! 🙂 hee.
Thanks for doing such a cool giveaway!
Ruby Lou would have a happy (and potentially teethed-on) life with my precious 9 month old niece (in Toronto, if that matters) 🙂
The fabrics… ah, I could come up with some fantastical idea but honestly, I’d hoard them, I’m like that with pretty fabric, I can buy it but it’s oh-so-hard to cut into!
oh my goodness, my daughter (well, the 3 year old – the 2 month old would just drool on it) would take very very good care of Ruby Lou. She would cart her every where, make sure that everyone she met was introduced to Ruby Lou, and she would tuck her in every night… we’re definitely in a “little mommy” stage, and this doll is so super cute! i am going to have to check out that pattern if i don’t win.
I would love the fat quarters…I am always adding new fabric to my stash for spur of the moment projects!
thank you for the chance to win!
crissybell17(at)gmail(dot)com
The doll would go to a very good home. My 3 year old daughter who loves dolls and treats them like babies.
The doll would make a perfect gift for my five year old niece who just went through a traumatic experience downsizing from her house to a two bedroom apartment due to foreclosure. I think that this little dolly would make her feel a little better in her new environment.
I love the fabrics! I can see a pair of shorts for my 2 year old out of the purple, maybe a pillow with the others and the sunflower fabric would end up in my kitchen – my kitchen is red, yellow, and sunflowers – it would be perfect! Thanks for a great giveaway!
Miss Ruby Lou would live with me but would be loved by my grandgirlies. She would like living with our other babies and have exciting rides in the grocery cart and be spoiled with tea parties and handstitched quilts. Occaisonally, she will be surrounded by dinosaurs and train tracks because the girls love sharing those with cousin, Ethan. It will be a noisy, but happy life and she will be loved.
Ruby Lou would be a gift for my granddaughter who lives 1000+ miles from me. I only get to see her once a year and I’ve been looking for a special hand-crafted doll to give her.
Ruby Lou would be going to St. Louis with my 8 yr. old grandaughter. She will be coming to Maine for the very first time after her birthday in June. She and Ruby Lou would be best friends

I’ve added you to my favorites list (blogger follow list is not working) so that I can come and visit again.

The little missy would go to my pastor’s daughter, who is 2 and in the process of moving locally, so maybe among all her cardboard boxes right now, she’d appreciate a new “friend”.
The fabric I’m keeping (don’t tell her quilty mom :). Several of the color are rounding out what I don’t have in my stash….am collecting oranges and purples for a clemson quilt whose eta is hopefully at Christmas.
Thank you for your generous giveaway!

There’s no such thing as too much fabric. As weird as it sounds, I’ve been meaning to make a cover for my sewing machine and toaster, so the fabric would probably go towards that. Thanks for the giveaway!
Oh I love Ruby Lou! My daughter is turning 5 next Wednesday, and she just informed me that she might be getting “too old” for Blue Puppy. (I was shocked! Blue Puppy is a beyond-loved stuffed, well… blue puppy, that has literally become part of the family. Really, he pops up in nearly EVERY photo I have of her!) SO, for this big transition from 4 to 5 years old, I think she would LOVE Ruby Lou! Ruby would live in a pink bedroom filled with flowers, butterflies, and dragonflies. She would have her own bed (on nights that my daughter doesn’t keep her in bed with her), highchair, and changing station (for that adorable skirt to get reversed!). And best of all, she’d be able to spend lots of quality time with a little (er, I mean old) five-year old girl!
Thanks so much!
